Central American Art and Archaeology
Archaeologist Bosco Moroney of the Instituto Nicaraguense de Cultura is directing a rescue excavation at Ciudad Sandino, located on the outskirts of Managua off the road north towards Leon. Here are some photos of burial urns that have been exposed. The site appears to date to the Sapoa period (AD 800-1250) based on diagnostic pottery.
