I  am married to my best friend, Sharisse.  We live in Calgary with my 21 year old son, Dylan (my other best friend).  Our two daughters, Celise and Kalleen, are in graduate school in Ontario and Texas, respectively.

Sharisse is a professional speech pathologist, specializing in children with language disabilities.  She owns Achieve Better Communication Skills, Ltd where she is in private practice (www.abc-s.ca), but is also employed by the Rocky View School District where they are implementing an experimental program for students with speech and language needs.

Sharisse is also my close collaborator in research projects, including field work in Nicaragua.  Together we have authored numerous articles, especially those involving gender research.  We love to travel, though it is usually work related to at least some degree.  We are currently looking forward to a trip to Greece.

Dylan recently graduated from the University of Calgary, where he studied political science and English.  He enjoys poetry, and has published several of his poems.  He is working as a reading resource teacher, and plans to return to University for a teaching credential.  Dylan enjoys travelling, and has accompanied us to Nicaragua as well as striking off on his own to Europe.

My daughter Celise recently completed her MA at Trent University, where she studied Physical Anthropology, particularly as it relates to archaeological remains.  She has excavated in Ireland, Greece, Rhode Island, and with us in Nicaragua.  Her research interest is in occupational markers--the pathological evidence of tasks practiced repeatedly during life, which studied using human remains from Teotihuacan, Mexico.  If you like the Kathy Reich's series Bones, think Temperance Brennan but with personality.

Kalleen earned her MFA at the University of Texas at Austin.  Her medium of preference is lithography, but she is talented at everything she does.  You can learn more of Kalleen's artwork at http://www.kalleen.com/kcresumeweb.pdf.  Last May she married Brent Nutting.
