Nicaragua

Nicaragua features its Museo Nacional in the National Palace building in Managua with a small exhibit of pre-Columbian artifacts but extensive collections in the storage rooms in the basement. The museum webpage can be accessed here.

A private museum that specializes in pre-Columbian ceramics is Mi Museo, located in Granada.  It features rotating exhibits, an on-line journal of research articles aimed at a popular audience, and an extensive on-line catalogue accessible to the puplic.

Another important museum in Granada is the Museo del Convento San Francisco, which features both pre-Columbian and modern art.  Notable is the exhibtion of statuary from Zapatera Island.
